How to "Greenify" for your Sweetheart

With Valentines Day fast approaching, many people are wondering how to express their love for their sweetheart. While many people may be buying bouquets of roses or heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, there are some who are going for a more “green” approach to the holiday. With that in mind we here at GreenSavings.Coop present what we like to call Countdown to “Greenentines” Day, where we help you find new ways to show your sweetie you love them while also helping the planet.

This first day in the countdown is devoted to Greeting Cards. Greeting Cards can be dated back to the ancient Chinese and Egyptians. Each culture exchanged sentiments on a form of scroll. Through the ages greeting cards were sent to loved ones on just plain paper. Well now that can change. There have been new strides made in the greeting card industry called seed cards. People are now able to send biodegradable cards that have live plant seeds within them. Once you are done enjoying the sentiment behind the card, you can plant the whole card in a pot of soil and watch it grow into new life.

So for a sustainable and affordable gift, give your Valentine a seed card and watch a plant grow from your kindness.
